How big is it, really?

This is a portable pit. It will warm two or three people sitting close to it. It will not heat a full circle of patio chairs the way a large backyard pit does — if that's what you're after, this is the wrong product and we'd rather say so now than take the return.

Is this a smokeless fire pit?

No, and we won't pretend otherwise. Smokeless pits use a sealed double wall that pre-heats air and re-burns the exhaust. This is an open mesh basket — a different design. It burns clean and hot with dry wood, but it produces normal campfire smoke and it will follow you around the fire like any open fire does.

Is it safe on a wood deck?

Not directly, and less so than a solid-bowl pit — embers fall through the mesh by design. Use a fire-pit mat or heat shield on any wood, composite or vinyl surface. On stone, concrete, gravel or bare ground it sits as-is.
